From the extreme wilderness, we arrived at the first city in Alaska, Ketchikan. We spent four fun-filled days riding bikes around the quaint fishing town. Creek Street with its wooden houses and shops, built along the flowing waters, was cute. We took a gondola to Cape Fox Lodge, to take photos. We enjoyed the best chowder ever at Annabelle’s Keg and Chowder House, built in the 1920s.

We also enjoyed Totem Pole State Park where they have a large collection of restored totem poles on the beach.

The highlight of our trip was salmon fishing with our private charter captain, Nick. As soon as we put lines in the water, we immediately had fish on, sometimes triple hookups. It was amazing. In just a few hours we had our limit of fish, 24 Pink salmon and 24 Silver salmon. We spent the rest of the day chasing the elusive King salmon, watching whales breaching and photographing eagles. We agreed it was one of the best days of our lives! We ended the evening cooking and eating our wonderful catch.
